Members of the Developmental Head Injury Biomechanics group presented their work at the recent World Congress of Biomechanics in Boston, MA. Held every 4 years, this conference attracts biomechanical engineers and scientists from around the world. Dr. Coats chaired a session on head injury biomechanics, as well as presented her and Greg Scott’s work related to the anatomy and biomechanics of the pia-arachnoid complex. Dan Shedd presented his research on vision behavior following blast exposure and Jami Saffioti presented her work investigating changes in sclera material properties with post-mortem time and in different storage conditions. Jourdan Colter was a finalist for the BS competition for her work on measuring the dynamic moduli of vitreous using spectrum interconversion. Congrats to everyone on a job well done.
In addition to attending the conference events and presenting our work to the biomechanics community, the group found time to enjoy themselves by seeing the sites and attending a Boston Red Sox game at Fenway Park.
