SB3C 2019 Seven Springs, PA

Dr. Brittany Coats, Nik Benko, Kiffer Creveling, Mitch Metcalf, Joseph Phillips, and Yousef Alsanea attended the 2019 SB3C conference in Seven Springs, Pennsylvania to present research from our lab to other bioengineers around the world.  Nik gave a podium presentation on his work measuring the mechanical properties of the brain-skull interface.  Mitch also gave a podium presentation on his high-rate fracture characterization of pediatric bone.  Joseph presented a poster on the enzymatic characterization of the vitreoretinal interface.  Kiffer also gave a poster presentation on the characterization of collagen fibrils at the vitreoretinal interface.  Yousef attended his first SB3C conference.  Fun was had by all and […]

The Lab welcomes the Women of HI-GEAR 2019

Hi-GEAR:  The lab was very excited to host a workshop for the high school women involved in the Hi-GEAR (Girls Engineering Abilities Realized) Camp run by the College of Engineering for the third time. The camp introduces students to engineering and computer science through hands-on learning projects. We had the women design artificial eyes to mimic the mechanical properties of real eyes. Designs were put to the test and the women were amazed at how fun Mechanical Engineering could be.
