Scleral Depressor

Pediatric Ophthalmologist and collaborator Gil Binenbaum, MD at the University of Pennsylvania was recently awarded a seed grant from the UPENN Vision Research Center to investigate changes in pediatric intraocular pressure with scleral depression. The University of Utah Pediatric Injury Biomechanics lab will design and manufacture the computer controlled depressor in order to assist Dr. Binenbaum .

Saffioti awarded SWE Scholarship

Jami Saffioti

The Society of Women Engineers has awarded Jami Saffioti the Ada I. Pressman Memorial Scholarship for the 2012-2013 Academic Year. The scholarship committee reviewed over 1,500 applications and awarded only 7 Memorial Scholarships in the United States!  Awards were given to female candidates in engineering who demonstrate “outstanding academic achievement as well as strong engineering potential.”  The award will help Jami pay for differential tuition, text books, student insurance and her daily coffee fix.  Congratulations Jami!

Williams wins 2012 Presentation Award

Alex Williams

Alex Williams was awarded the award for Best Speech at the 2012 Bioengineering Senior Research Symposium. The award was given for delivering the best 5 minute presentation on the Senior Design projects. Visual aid quality, speaker performance, delivery, and quality of content were all criteria to receive this award.
